I designed a functioning touchscreen user interface which is part of an interactive exhibition simulating a future moon base in the year 2025. The user must complete certain tasks, such as load a rocket with essential supplies and manage life support systems. After completion, the computer assigns the user a command position based on performance.
The interface is basically Mac OS X meets Star Trek LCARS. I boiled these elements down to their simplist forms, allowing the user to focus on the key task of each screen. The challenge was to meet the futuristic expectations of the user and at the same time provide a usable interface that is programmable within the budget constraints.
